Veterinary
Filu is a modern, tech enabled veterinary care provider with multiple practices across Germany and a mission to reinvent animal health experiences through digital services, seamless booking and an integrated customer portal. The business combines comprehensive in practice care with an intuitive digital platform for pet health data and service management. As the organisation grew and its data footprint expanded, it became clear that basic reporting was not enough to support decision making at scale.
Filu’s data was scattered across a variety of sources without a single version of truth. There was no established process for validating data quality and reporting was largely manual in Google Sheets. With no consensus on KPI definitions, stakeholders struggled to align on performance outcomes and insights. Key Pain Points: • Data living in multiple, unconnected sources • No single version of truth for reporting • Absence of data validation processes • Reporting done manually in Google Sheets • No shared KPI definitions
Day1Data worked with Filu to build a structured, automated analytics foundation, bringing together engineering, semantic modelling and governance to turn fragmented data into trusted insight. Step by Step Programme: KPI Catalogue Workshops – facilitated workshops to define a full KPI catalogue and secure organisational alignment Data Syncing – leveraged Fivetran to sync disparate data sources into BigQuery Semantic Layer – built a dbt semantic layer to unify definitions and logic across models KPI Modelling – modelled core KPIs in the warehouse with standardised logic Validation & Testing – created automated tests and documented definitions to ensure data quality and consistency
• Hundreds of validated KPIs stored in the data warehouse • A fully defined and documented KPI catalogue • Automated reporting replacing manual Google Sheets work • A single version of truth that supports confident decision making This programme transformed Filu’s measurement foundation, moving the business from ad hoc reporting to a scalable, validated analytics ecosystem.
